Kids 1st and Helen McArdle Care Fun Day raises over £1500 for The Children’s Foundation

On 30 August Kids 1st joined forces with sister company Helen McArdle Care to host a free family fun day for all of the staff and families of the care homes and nurseries. The event, held at Newcastle Racecourse, had a beach party theme to celebrate two very special anniversaries: 25 years of Helen McArdle Care and 10 years of Kids 1st.

The free staff event, hosted by Gary Philipson and Lisa Shaw from Heart Radio, included fun fair rides, magic, balloon modelling, music and competitions. There was even a special fun day beach constructed at the racecourse especially for the day.

Throughout the day, each of the nurseries and care homes raised money for The Children’s Foundation with beach themed stalls and the care home chefs also participated in the Great Helen McArdle Care Bake Off! In total £1500 was raised for the charity.

Libby Nolan, Fundraising Manager at The Children’s Foundation, said: “The Children’s Foundation are so grateful for all of the support that Kids 1st Nurseries and Helen McArdle Care give to raise money for the charity. Once again they pulled out all of the stops at the beach themed Family Fun Day and it was a great success. All money raised from the day will go towards our projects tackling disability, distress and disadvantage issues for children and young people in the North East.”

Helen McArdle, Chairman and Founder of family run companies Helen McArdle Care and Kids 1st, said: “We hold a free family fun day every year for our staff and their families to say thank you for all of their hard work and dedication to the company. As the head of a large family I know how difficult it can be to find the time to spend quality time together, so it was wonderful to see the staff letting their hair down and having fun with their families and colleagues.”

“We always try to support North East charities through fundraising, sponsorship and events, and our annual staff family fun day is a great way for us to support children and families in the region.”
