Harry the hedgehog at Kids 1st Rake Lane

This week Kids 1st Rake Lane had a visit from a hedgehog who had accidentally got trapped in the Penguin garden! He was in the right place as Nursery Nurse Karen Southern and Nursery Manager Abi both have experience in helping wildlife.

After carefully popping him in a box, with a hot water bottle, cat food and some water to drink – he was on his way by lunch time. The children were fascinated with him and even named him Harry the hedgehog!

The children really enjoying seeing him and the nursery staff were able to teach the children the importance of looking after wildlife carefully, whilst protecting themselves too.

A huge thank you to the Northumbrian Hedgehog Rescue Trust for their advice.
