Creative play for Gosforth art auction

On Friday 16 August the children at Kids 1st Gosforth made pieces of art with Newcastle Clown Doctors to sell at their charity auction in September.

The Clown Doctors is an innovative programme offering hospitalised children opportunities to take part in artistic play.  It aims to relieve them of fear and insecurities and to empower the children to understand and come to terms with their situation at a traumatic time in their lives.

The Children’s Foundation are currently raising funds so the Clown Doctors can continue their work in the Great North Children’s Hospital.  Long term supporters of The Children’s Foundation, Kids 1st Nurseries are showing their support by holding a BBQ and auction of the children’s art work in the Gosforth Nursery.

Nuritza Daghlian , Programme Leader of the Clown Doctors said: “The work the Clown Doctors carry out in the Great North Children’s Hospital is invaluable. They are raising smiles all over the wards. We are extremely grateful that Kids 1st Nurseries are supporting us to continue this work.”

The BBQ and auction will take place in September at the nursery for the children and their parents. The artwork of both the Clown Doctors and the children will be auctioned off on the evening.

Libby Nolan, Fundraising Manager of The Children’s Foundation said: “Kids 1st Nurseries have supported The Children’s Foundation for many years and this project has really inspired Gosforth to get involved.  We are hugely grateful for the continued support and this will enable us to continue to fund the Clown Doctors work in the Great North Children’s Hospital.
