My child meets the criteria for the 2 year old funding and I wondered if Kids 1st offer this service?

Yes we accept children who are eligible for the 2 year old funding. However, places are limited and can only be offered if we have the availability at the time of enquiring.

My child will be three in September, how do I claim the 15 hours free entitlement from the Government?

The 15 hours free entitlement from the Government will mean a reduction in your child’s fees. We will reduce the fees to reflect your child’s Free Entitlement Hours the term following their third birthday.

Does Kids 1st accept company childcare vouchers?

Yes, our nurseries are registered with most childcare voucher schemes. You can pay all or part of your nursery fees using these vouchers, however full payment is required by card/cheque until the first voucher payment has been credited to our account.  You can ask your Nursery Manager for more information regarding this.

My child has a food allergy, can he still attend Kids 1st?

Yes, we endeavour to work very closely with parents to ensure that all dietary requirements are met in our nurseries.

During your child’s introduction to the nursery you will be requested to complete an allergy management plan and you will meet the nursery Catering Team to devise a suitable alternative menu for your child.

What if my child can’t attend nursery due to illness?

We request that parents contact the nursery by telephone if their child is to be absent for any reason. We also request that the nursery is informed if your child has an infectious illness so we can inform other parents to watch out for signs and symptoms in their own child.

Our nurseries have a strict control of infection policy and adhere to the Health Protection Agency’s recommended exclusion periods. Therefore to protect other children and staff we insist that all children remain at home until all signs and symptoms have been clear for at  least 48 hours and they are all well enough to cope with a busy day at nursery.

What would happen if my child became ill whilst at nursery?

In the event of a child becoming ill whilst at a Kids 1st Nursery, the child’s parents would be asked to come and collect their child. The child would be comforted and remain quietly with a staff member until they were collected. We fully appreciate the work demands placed upon parents and would only contact you if your child was not well enough to be at nursery.

What happens when I come to collect my child?

There is always a senior member of staff on duty at all times of the day. Staff will only handover children at the end of the session to people who have previously been authorised to collect the child and are known to them.

No child will be allowed to leave with anyone without authority and when prior arrangements have not been made. We do not allow anybody entry into the building if they are unknown to the staff or without appointments.

Will my child be safe and secure whilst at nursery?

Great emphasis is placed on security and nobody is allowed in the nursery if they are unknown to the staff. Visitors are by strict appointment only.

Entry to the nurseries is through a fingerprint security and intercom system. Each Kids 1st Nursery has an extensive CCTV system in operation to ensure maximum security.

Do you have a fire procedure in place?

There are regular fire drills held as a matter of course for staff and children to become familiar with the procedure. This is to ensure that in the unlikely event of a fire the children will be evacuated quickly, safely and without distress.

Fire and safety regulations are adhered to at all times and our fire and electrical equipment is tested on a regular basis.

There is a strict NO SMOKING policy in all of the nurseries.
